Ennui Home began as a passion project of founder Eji Benson alongside his work designing and manufacturing for the fashion industry. Born into a family of tailors in Nigeria, Eji was savvy with a sewing machine by the tender age of 8.
He attended fashion school in Chicago and moved to New York City to work in
the industry soon thereafter. Creating clothing and accessories that make statements through shape and color his portfolio includes collaborative work with icons such as Bill Blass, Kate Spade, Vera Wang,
Rodarte, Opening Ceremony and many others; seen on runways and the pages of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Bazaar, and the like.
During Eji’s early travels he happened to meet a member of an African looming family based in Swaziland with a deep mastery of traditional weaving skills and expert craftsmanship. The dream of working with this loom at some point in the future grew and they eventually began producing custom rugs together with the first collection appearing in 2007.
