Ennui Home’s mohair rugs are hand-spun, hand-dyed and hand-woven using African looms in a process dating back to the eleventh century. Our looms are located in Eswatini/Swaziland and South Africa.
Our other mixed-yarn products are produced by artisans at regionally specific heritage looms located around the world.
Mohair is a unique and durable fiber that comes from the Angora goat (not to be confused with angora wool, which comes from rabbits); it is hypoallergenic, soft and shiny, crease resistant and non-flammable with a very high lanolin content. It is considered one of the most premium and exclusive wools.
Our Angora goats and any other animals we spin fibers from are treated humanely and are extremely well cared for. Wool is a natural, renewable and recyclable material. We respectfully utilize yarns/wool from Yak, Goat and Sheep.
The dyes we exclusively use are made of 100% organic materials to produce deep lasting colors. Our disposal is handled in a dedicated eco-friendly process.
Ennui Home products are packaged in ecologically friendly and recyclable materials to minimize waste while securely protecting the contents. Most items ship directly to your location from the loom.
Sales of Ennui Home products directly support and empower the adult women who lovingly create all of our products- we do not condone child labor or any form of unfair treatment of workers. The payment our expert artisans receive also functions to support their families and communities which is vital in the areas of our production.
Fair-pay and equitable treatment of skilled workers at their place of origin is a core principle behind our brand's mission.
